GS 1968 ARTICLE 6

The Chairman proposes the following arrangements:

a. Mail received after the first postal delivery on Monday November 11th, 1968, will not be dealt with by Synod.

b. Synod will meet:

  • in morning sessions, 9.00 – 12.00;
  • afternoon sessions. 1.30 – 4.30;
  • evening sessions, 7.00 – 9.30;
  • morning sessions on Saturdays, 9.00 – 12.30.

This schedule also applies to the advisory committees. If possible, the evening sessions will be used for plenary sessions to enable church members to be present as visitors.

c. The Press Release will not be published before Synod closes.

d. The Church at Orangeville will be informed that it will be highly appreciated if its Financial Committee completes its arrangements.

e. The advisory committees shall provide each delegate with a copy of their reports.

f. Even if only the advisory committees meet, the meetings shall be opened and closed with prayer and thanksgiving in a plenary session.

g. The following advisory committees be appointed:

  • Committee I: Mr. J. Kuik, Rev. J. Mulder (convener), Mr. H. Oosterveld, Rev. M. van Beveren.
  • Committee II: Mr. J. Bareman, Mr. J. Medemblik, Rev. H. Scholten (convener), Rev. W.W. J. VanOene.
  • Committee III: Rev. H. A. Stel (convener), Mr. S. Tuininga, Mr. J. Vanderveen, Rev. G. VanDooren.
  • Committee IV: Mr. H. Bouwman, Rev. L. Moes, Rev. L. Selles (convener), Mr. K. Stam.

Committee I is to deal with: Contact with the Orthodox Presbyterian Church, Time-Limit of reports, Printing of the Acts and Yearbook.

Committee II is to deal with: Implementation of Article 19 C.O., Training for the Minis­ try, Colloquium Doctum, Revision and Translation of the Church Order, Central Address, Declaration of Agreement Three Forms of Unity.

Committee III is to deal with: Contact with the Christian Reformed Church, Correspon­dence with Churches abroad, Revised Standard Version, Decision re Address Death Penalty.

Committee IV is to deal with: Forms for Excommunication “Baptized Members”, Calvin­istic Psalter, Suspension Rev. C. DeHaan, Request re abbreviated Form for the Lord’s Supper, Finances of General Synod 1965.
